Classics

Types, taxonomies, ethnographies- classification can make the familiar strange. By reducing the handbag to its most potent characteristic, the silhouette, we can revisit it anew. The Classics arrive post-Technicolor vertigo where the traditional shapes have regained consciousness as acid washed eidolons. In the tumble, holes reveal the contrasting linings while their profiles remain taut. The Classics are a study in being true to form while also being not so.

No classic handbag collection is complete without a named bag, ours is The Miranda, designed in collaboration with the writer, director, and artist, Miranda July. Available in two versions, the first, a numbered limited edition that takes the phenomenon of the named bag to its most extreme complete with Miranda's contents and comments in specially fashioned and labelled pockets. The second is a vessel ready to be filled.
